Ten Tracks You Need #66

Well lookie here...we're on time! Yes it's true, this is actually the third Ten Tracks You Need post this week. Damn...talk about keeping busy. Anyway, we're sort of organized for now and we've been keeping the email monsters at bay so with that kind of efficiency you can expect things to stay this way.

I know there has been loads of footie as of late, but has anyone realized yet, that the 2010 World Cup is less than a month away? Time flies when you're not on the pitch but the time for the mayhem and chaos of the Cup is about to get under way.

It will be interesting to watch, especially here in the States as once again the Americans are ranked in the top 15. Will they actually play or be stunned into submission by how the English, Europeans, and if they're lucky the South Americans play football? My guess is they'll lose to England make it out of the group with them and then promptly be eliminated in the second round. As for England...hopes are even higher and please dear god at least make it into the semis. Please...it's been 44 years since you've made it through to the end.

As for who will win it...I would love England to win it all...but there's this little team from down south called Brazil. And well you know, they're Brazil. They're one of the few teams you can just say that and everyone agrees. and knows what your talking about.

Who are you hoping makes it through? Who do you think will win it all? Post it below...and if you're lucky, I'll send you some free stuff including random CD's, stickers, badges, etc.

Ten Tracks You Need #61

Ah...Spring. A time of renewal, a time of growth, and a time of epic yard work. If you're like me and were anywhere not in the Southern Hemisphere than chances are you've had a pretty brutal winter. Mother Nature hasn't been very nice to mankind this past season and there have been more freezes here in FLORIDA then I can ever recall in my lifetime. Even Miami wasn't untouched this year as the temps dropped to below 32 (0) down there. It actually "snowed," in some parts of the state and if that isn't the definition of a harsh winter then I don't know what is. (I'm supposed to be in shorts in January, not 15 layers of clothing, the heater turned up to 180, and the inability to even think of going outside).

Now after months of brutal weather, we've leapt into Spring. As the first day of Spring is upon us, it's now raining and rather warm, and things are starting to bounce back. This is a good thing! None-the-less, most of my neighbors and myself will probably end up spending the next two to three months cleaning up and replanting.

As horrifying as that sounds to most of hipsterdom, I rather enjoy being out there amongst the pollen, wood chips, plants, and mulch. I suppose I'm old, but it's much more gratifying to see something you own look amazing after your hard work then to spend a night face down in vomit. Call it a personal choice but I'll take plants over puke any day.

Anyway, this week's Ten Tracks You Need has been my soundtrack to the start of that recovery and even today's rainy day. As per usual it's all over the place but that's the general idea.

Enjoy.

Ten Tracks You Need #27 (300th post edition)

It's Friday people! Unlike last week, we actually have a Ten Tracks You Need this week. In fact, we have an expanded mp3 edition of Ten Tracks You Need. Think of it as a little bit of a make up present for not having a post last Friday.

It's hard to believe that The POP! Stereo is 300 posts old. What originally started out as a blog designed to promote my DJ night has now sort of taken on a life of it's own. In little under a year it's grown exponentially and thanks to this little thing I've come in contact with and/or met so many people from around the world that I'm constantly in awe. It's always fun when 50% or more of the visitors to TPS are from outside the US. It reminds me of the days when I used to do a fanzine (go ask your parents kids) and would get snail mail with demo tapes from the four corners of the globe and speak to people in the remotest part of Norway as they flipped through my little magazine. It was crazy stuff then and still is today.

To celebrate our 300th post, the first three people to email me at djpaulpop@yahoo.com will win themselves a POP! Stereo Prize Pack with CD's, Vinyl, and more!

Ok...enough giving away stuff, reminiscing and sentimentality. Off to the tracks. Have fun, thanks for the support, and here's to another 300 posts.
